“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

The Buffalo Guidance Group specializes in providing counseling services to Preschool and Pre-K children with social, emotional, and behavioral issues and/or certain developmental disabilities.

We offer a less restrictive, cost effective alternative to center-based programs and/or services. It is our philosophy that given additional supports to develop appropriate social/emotional and behavioral skills, children can continue to experience the social and academic benefits that a typical early childhood setting provides.

Individual Counseling

Counselors provide social and behavioral interventions in an early childhood setting and/or home environment. Counselors work collaboratively with teachers, faculty, and administrators to provide support and practical assistance to promote the child’s success.

Group Counseling

Group Counseling is provided at the BGG center 2 x or 3 x per week for 2 hour sessions. The counseling group simulates a traditional early childhood setting and students will engage in very similar activities; including circle time, play time, story time, seasonal activities, crafts, sing-along activities, and a healthy snack.

The counseling group promotes pro-social behaviors in a positive, nurturing, and structured environment through the use of specially designed therapeutic games, activities, and interventions. Counselors utilize the Incredible Years small group therapy model, as well as Theraplay activities and/or interventions which provide opportunities for more individualized attention.

Bussing is provided to and from the child’s program and/or home.

Parent Counseling and Training

Counselors work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to assist in implementing specific child-focused and developmentally appropriate behavioral interventions and promote follow through and consistency in the home.
