ABOUT US

Our goal is to enable children to effectively generalize acquired skills to future challenges. We are able to accomplish this by providing trained therapists to work with students and their teachers in their early childhood setting.

ABOUT US

The Buffalo Guidance Group is committed to providing the most comprehensive behavioral health services to preschool and Pre-K children, and their families, in our community. We provide compassionate, knowledgeable, and collaborative support to children experiencing social, emotional, behavioral challenges.

The Counseling services provided by the Buffalo Guidance Group are an exciting  new program option for families and school districts in need of social, emotional, and behavioral support for preschool and Pre-K students. It is an innovative model created to provide a less restrictive alternative to center based programs.  It is currently only available in Erie County with the support of the Erie County Department of Health. It is through this collaboration that we are able to access children at the most developmentally appropriate ages to enhance pro-social, student ready skills.

This is achieved by using developmentally appropriate behavior management strategies and utilizing the existing systems and natural supports to assist children to adapt and succeed. Our goal is to enable children to effectively generalize acquired skills to future challenges. We are able to accomplish this by providing trained therapists to work with students and their teachers in their early childhood setting. This is an important part of our program. Through our support we are assisting students in becoming confident in achieving success in the various systems of the traditional educational construct.

In addition to the classroom support BGG has developed a group program that is singular in its approach to behavior, social skills, and student ready success. Our participants meet two or three times a week at our center. There they experience a simulated environment which is very similar to a traditional preschool or Pre-k classroom. In this environment with small groups, and trained therapists, we are able to engage in a more intensive, immediate and comprehensive approach to helping children acquire the necessary skills and responses. Again our model is built on the belief that the skills acquired in the group program will generalize to the traditional classroom as well as home and extracurricular activities.
